One sure to annoy the USAAF supporters! This is based on a well-documented captured B-17F flown by Hans-Werner Lerche at Rechlin.

Boeing B-17F-27-BO 'Wulfe-Hound' (41-24585) served with 360th BS, 303rd BG 'Hell's Angels' and was damaged during bombing run on 12th of December 1942. Pilot Lieutenant Flickinger was forced to land at Leeuwarden airfield in Netherlands. The B-17 was repaired and two days later assigned the Stammkennzeichen DL+XC and was transferred to Rechlin. Here she was tested and later had visited fighter units throughout Germany and France so that pilots could recognize its strengths and weaknesses. 'Wulfe-Hound' then returned to Rechlin in July 1943 before being transferred to I/KG 200 in September 1943 and re-coded A3+AE.

I have gone with a mid-to-late Rechlin colour-scheme, with a yellow underside, and tape on the upper wings and nacelles showing vulnerable areas. The prop blades have (from what I can tell on the photos) relatively crudely-applied warning stripes on the front side near the tips, but not the rear. The faded recognition letter "B" was hand-stippled on, and I did the markings on the wheel-hubs in two shades of grey, as I couldn't establish the real colours, but the pattern was visible on a photo.
The underside was first sprayed white and then with Tamiya yellow from a rattle-can, while everything else was brush-painted. I went with a faded, worn and stained OD upper surface, and fresher (and less dirty) yellow undersurfaces, and the newly-applied German national markings are also visibly cleaner than the OD.
As per comments in the various Rechlin, H-W Lerche books and KG200 books, I have left out the armament from the nose and waist, as this was apparently removed while she was shown on the ground, and sometimes even on transfer-flights in the Reich.

Please excuse the badly- cropped pictures showing the background, but she doesn't fit into my wife's photo-booth!
