Flight over Holland

1. F104 at Texel airport
2. The Netherlands as foreigners know it, water and a windmill (Texel)
3. De afsluitdijk, on of NL's famous waterworks. A great dam, 30km long. It sealed the salt-water Zuyderzee and turned it into the fresh-water IJselmeer. It was completed in 1932, so any mention of de Zuyderzee in WWII is false, it should be IJselmeer.
4. Flower-flield in North-Holland
5. Edam (know for it's cheese) with it's fortress, part of the "defenceline Amsterdam")
6. The island (now peninsula) of Marken, typical Dutch Fishermen's village, very old-fashioned and great to visit for tourists.

Stay tuned, got some fortresses and castles too...

1. The Fortress island of Pampus, protecting Amsterdam harbour.
2. The great midieval castle of Muiden, Muiderslot
3. Haarzuylens, all the turrets makes me think of fairy-tale castles. It's quite big.
4. Sluipwijk, a village on a dyke, in the middle of a lake strange sight, I thought.
5. Rotterdam, centre. The red suspension bridge is the "Willemsbrug", important WWII site. German troops landed here with water-planes and took this bridge by surprise. This area was the scene of bitter fighting, May 1940 until the German bombing of the city. The left side on the pic was the area that was destroyed on the 14th of may 1940.
6. Rotterdam: Euromast, a 200 meter tower and the line SS Rotterdam in the back.
7. Landing at Rotterdam.

Would love to visit some day. Oh and you finally answered for me and just about everyone I know what is the relation between the Netherlands and Holland. Thanks Marcel.

May have to pick your brain at a later date as to some interior colors on Fokker D.23...

My pleasure. I do have a book about the D.23 prototype, don't remeber any color info though, but I'll look it up.
