Going to be a terrific build! It did take an engineer to manage four of those supercharged R-3350s. At least they weren't turbo-compounds yet as they were in the Super Gs and DC-7s after the War. Are you against cutting access holes in the fuze to show off all the neat interior stuff.

Well I've been doing a little work but not much. I know I said no Origami, but it seems it may not fully work out that way any way I've been putting the face plates on as needed and testing what I have to use from the Eduard kit and what will work from the Monogram parts. Really the Monogram is not bad as stated before.

I installed the window hatches which still need painting and I was going to try and use the kit deck as molded with the center console. This turned out not to be as the Eduard console face is too wide and it nessatated I use the Eduard supplied console. Which I'm happy I did as there are the engine controls and parking brake levers. I did not cut of the center console as the Eduard part fit directly over it no issues.

The radio compartment,

The nav table,

And more.

I'm pleased to see the Eduard parts with the interior green and a dead on match for the Testors enamel Interior green.
I tested out the basics of the Eduard cockpit divider v the kit part.

I will most likely use the Eduard parts. THe Eduard seat is a major upgrade to reality versus the kit pilot seats. I will most likely use them though they are a multi part origami fit issue.

Great work Don. I built that kit back in high school shortly after it was first released and I can still remember how wonderfully detailed it was

Thanks for all the great commits and I do really like the detail the Monogram put into this and many others we all built a long time ago. That being said This is a hole new kit with the five Eduards added to it. The seats that Monogram put in for the pilots are wrong.
Take a look at the B-29 at the Air Force Museum, World War II Gallery Cockpits
The kit comes with a high back shell enclosed seat. The seats are tubular framed and straight backed. The Eduard sets look correct, but boy what a deal.

Talk about origami, sorry for the red circles, but each is a fold and I missed one when I started this morning. Actually I missed three but only one was critical to the build. The small arms that stick out and up in the photo are supposed to fold back so that they mated with the lower one that has bar with the holes on it and then the holes fold over that!

See, that all makes sense once you see the instruction for putting the seats together, RIGHT! Yeah, I still don't see it from that view either.

And then I broke it from all the fussing I had done. But I think it's fixed and this is the frame that the seat attaches to.

Here are the rest of the seat parts, minus the arm rest. This is the arm rest (with out the padded arm rest.

The seats (both) are laid out together on the PE sheet.

and here are the three main PE's for the seat.

Though Eduard called for the complete removal of both instrument panels, I am not going there. The face plates fit nicely on the kit IP's.

Fiddly stuff, but should look the biz when done.
BTW, I have a new "Manual of Curses and Swear Words", should you wish to borrow it .....................

That manual could come in handy if you want to squash those seats Don. Looks like you've got it figure. A lot of work but the results will look great.

Thanks to all checking in. Here is the completed seat and the kit seat compared together with a kit figure. The kit seat seems to be undersized for the figure and if compared to the photo of the aircraft pilot seat incorrect. The Eduard set is a bit of a pain but I believe it was and is worth the effort. I'm using a super glue gel I buy from Harbor Freight at about $5.00 for this package and I like the results I am getting with out all the mess of the full flow SG. A little dab on a pin or tooth pick and I am pretty much in control. the small set means that even if I have on harden up on me, happens sometimes but not often, I have more in small containers.
