I need help confirming the gun layout on the F-4-F-3 Wildcat.......
Instructions for the 1/48 HobbyBoss kit show staggered guns.
inboard of the two poking thru the leading edge of the wing.
Outboard of the two staggered back, for shell chutes I am guessing,
and well within the wing and no visible barrel.
The guns are glued to pegs in the lower wing half, holes are in the upper. DOH!
Now looking back at photos, the holes in the wings are taped over, like the Spitfire......
So no barrels protruding outward at all!!!!!
YES-NO?

According to the pics the inboard barrels should be protruding.

But these images of a F4F-3 show that the both guns could have the protruding barrels as well.

Just didn't look close enough.

Looks like the outboard was about half an inch, 12mm, out as well......
That's what I'll go with.

And here you are the guns mounted in the bay.... I have seen one more shot but can't remind myself where...
The difference in protruding of the barrels was caused by the feeding system of the guns.
