Ok so yes I spent 20 years in the USAF, but the F-14 Tomcat is the sexist fight I've EVER SEEN! Not an opinion, A FACT! Oh don't get me wrong, there are fighters out there that have much more impressive records then the Tomcat, but if this don't get ya,

Than this one will!

The kit is Hasegawa's 1/48 F-14. I came out in the early '90's with the craze of Top Gun fever as I recall. I have other Tomcat kits in 1/48th which are probably less complicated to do, but Hasegawa built this so you can knell her down on the cat with the wing out flaps and slats out and weapons, claws all out and ready.

The plane I'm planning on is AJ-102 Bur Number 160403 August 19, 1981 in the Gulf of Sidra. I bought the Furball F-14A designed for the Tamiya F-14 set as it has the aircraft as depicted in the fight. They were loaded with a 2x2x2 load out (two AIM-9 Sidewinders, two AIM-7 Sparrows and two AIM-54 Phoenix missiles). Flying with AJ-107 BN 160390.

At the time of the fight this was the squadron commanders bird being flown my the XO.

The rest of the kit.

Yeah, I have to agree with Don, I think the 'cat is one sexy fighter. I almost went for a 'cat, but I decided to hold off. I need to keep things simpler as I return to the hobby. Still trying to decide on either a Tamiya Mosquito or the Meng Me-410. I REALLY want to do a Mossie as I love the bird. However, I have a crap ton of aftermarket and not sure I am to the point where I can bite that all off within a GB time frame. Don is really crying at me for the 410, which I am really leaning towards.

I vote 410

Ok so we don't hijack this for a 410 forum, I noticed that the set of decals also does the MiG 23 killers from VF-32. Ummm now the dilemma starts. VF-41 or VF-32. I do like the Swordsman markings.
