Hi guys. Just letting you know I have not forgotten this. Priority right now is getting my 14 year old furnace fixed. We had a cool snap a couple of weeks ago - enough for me to turn the furnace on in the morning to get the chill off. That's when I found out that the damn thing was not working - AGAIN. Last year I dropped 800 bucks on a new control board. This year it's a blower fan module - a $1400 touch, excluding a new fan motor which, if you want a new one, is nowhere to be had.....

I found a local one-man show who had a spare motor and module but when he tried it, the thing wouldn't shut down like it was supposed to. Control board fried again. Now trying to line up a new furnace and will be paying an arm and a leg for it.

Fortunately, the weather is holding for now. It was 29C yesterday and above average temps are forecast for at least the next week or so. I will get back to this model when things settle down. Thanks for your patience.
 
Thats not so good Andy, can't have you being so cold the glue freezes on you and no modelling. Seriously though, hope you get it fixed at a reasonable price and soon.

Time to blow the dust off this thing and get a move on. The IP was assembled, painted, and added to the pit floor. Not a big fan of AM's method of making these panels out of solid clear parts as the instruments appear much too deep inside their openings. However, the panel is recessed far into the nose and so little of it will be seen anyway. The pit walls and floor were painted in basic Tamiya XF-27 Black Green to simulate Bronze Green and the high points were highlighted with a slightly lighter green. Details were picked out in black and silver. I did add a bit of wiring to the boxes on the port side. The seat cushions were painted with Tamiya Khaki and I might try making some "US Air Corps" decals to add to the seat backs. Seat belts will be scratch build and added soon. I've decided to not make the side armour as I do need to get moving on this project if I want to maintain any hope of finishing on time.

Thanks everyone. Since last time, I added all of the internal parts to the fuselage halves that, for the most part, won't be seen anyway. However, one important item was to cut in a new window on the starboard side of the radio operator's station as discussed in the early pages of this thread. With thanks to Yves for the dimensions, I drew the opening on some tape and drilled the first locating holes:



After the opening was drilled out and cleaned up, I carefully cut out a piece of clear bendy plastic and glued it into the hole with CA backed up with Future to fill any gaps.



And just for fun, I made a pair of "U.S. Air Corps" decals for the seat cushions using a stencil font found in MS Word and applied those. Also, the lap belts were scratch-made using tape. Word has it there were no shoulder belts so that saves me a bit of work.

Thanks guys. Not sure why but the Testors decal sealer that I used seems to eat the printer ink. Not that I care for this little sideshow but worrying for future projects. Maybe because I used 2 coats.
