Yes Ralph, dont use an airbrush, i tried one and didn't like it.
I use Vallejo model colour paints and paint brushes.

Maybe with a hires photo zoomed in one could tell, but you certainly have perfected that technique!

The usual trouble fitting roundels over bumps on the Spitfire wings, hopefully these will settle now they've had a coat of decal softener.

The second photo looks like it is slowly working but if the solution doesn't work, try a cloth soaked in very hot and gently....repeat gently press it on the decal. Let the heat do the work

I've usually resorted to cutting the decal open at the top of the bump with a scalpel and touch up painting it after.

Bingo! Those decals that have had small bumps on my builds have always been a challenge. Piercing at the top or of the 'nub' does allow the rest of the decal to settle, but invariably I have to 'toothpick' a dot of color to fix. Sometimes though I have had luck with wetting a Q-Tip with the softener solution and rolling/pressing till it conforms.
