Had this kit and the decals for sometime and the opportunity now presents itself.
Decided on building the 1/32 ZM P-51D Mustang, "Ridge Runner III " flown by Major Pierce McKennon
Of the 335th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter group.

His scoreboard shows a tally of 20 victories made up of aerial victories and ground victories.
McKennon was shot down twice during his service and this was shown by the 2 parachute markings painted on the Artwork Panel above the Hog on the port side.
When the war ended, McKennon was credited with 12 aerial victories and 9.83 ground victories. This odd fraction is explained by the fact that McKennon shared one victory with another pilot (1/2 victory = .50) and another one with two other pilots (1/3 = .33).
McKennon returned to the United States to become a flight instructor, sadly McKennon and a student pilot were killed in a training accident on June 18, 1947.

Good or bad have also decided NOT to deal with a lot of the Internals stuff this kit has on offer to cut down on the workload of painting subassemblies and slowing the assembly.

Meaning a lot that won't be visible will simply be assembled and installed without the additional paint work…..sorry Guys.

Earlier this week my Wife had Eye surgery so I pulled the P-51D kit and took it to the hospital, while she was in having the surgery and recovery time i sat for a few hours and got stuck into it....
Made some good progress getting the Wing Assembly mostly done, amonngst other things too.....so the kit instructions will need to suffice for the assembly, sequences in place of pics...

Nothing like making use of idle time Wayne, looks terrific. How is the wife!
She is doing well now with vision almost back to normal now Vic. getting sick of the multiple eye drops every couple of hours though...

Bit more of the work done...with upper wing sections in place...and dry fitting of the front gun cover section.
