Well Tamiya, ya screwed me, ya changed the formula of your XF-5 Green to a darker shade and my tried and true mix of yellow and green to get Interior Green for a half dozen or so times is no more. Now the green is too dark. It used to give me this, shown beside Mr. Hobby Interior Green
When I mixed up this batch, it gave me an apple green. I thought I screwed up the mix and threw it out and tried again; very costly for someone whose nearest paint source is a 4hr round trip. In a panic I started adding more yellow and finally a few drops of black. Not quite right for the colour police but good enough for me. Lucky that I've found a source now for Mr. Hobby Aqueous.
Thank you Terry. I suddenly dawned on me after I posted that it has been reported that Mr. Hobby has change their Interior Green formula and now it looks like Yellow Zinc Chromate so hopefully they correct that soon
Understanding that paint was a local mix and one batch may be lighter or darker than another, I think it looks good and having three different shades of interior green can't be all that bad.
I am not happy with that green so I spent about 7hrs looking for the actual formula. I finally found it, surprise...surprise....here in a thread that is 19yrs old, 10 parts yellow green to 1 part black. This got me close so I added a few more drops of black until I was happy. Now to start over...........
New colour applied. It is a bit different in real life but better than the original. The before pic was also shot with a different camera. A work in progress.
IMHO adding a drop or two of the yellow or a drop of the yellow and a drop of a white would be enough ... for the getting of the better tone of the XF-5 Green.
Ahh .. perhaps some of a quite dark grey paint should be added then. If it is of a more bluish tinge a drop of the yellow should make it greenish and remove the bluish tone. With the grey should get the tone down.
I was almost 4:1 yellow/green and it was still apple green. The only thing that brought me to the before colour was a few drops of black and then I ran out of yellow
Thanks Jesse. Seat is just posing. Weathered up the floor to show....hopefully, the wood under the rubber coating. Dry brushed dark grey over semi-gloss black to show wear on "leather" but not sure its working for me. Painted the sidewall details Nato Black and waiting for it to dry to start painting the smaller details
