This is a kit I made a false start on during group build #38 having only glued the wing spar to the lower wing and shooting on a bit of paint, most of which will have to be re- done. I did some research on it back then with the help of George, Andy and Terry.

I only have until the end of the year to finish this one, so wish me luck.

Hope the kit is better than the box art. You'll do it justice though and I hope to see it done for New Year's.
It is.
It's a re-boxing of the Eduard A-8 kit, the older one with the separate cowl panels and full engine.
It should finish up very nicely, but it looks like the assembly is going to be somewhat difficult.
I test fitted some of the major components last night and this kit is defiantly not going to just fall together like a Tamiya kit.

Built this a long time ago Glenn.

From memory the wing root gun covers weren't a great fit as was the cowl gun cover just infront of the windscreen.
I had to chop out the gun mounts from that area.

Engine is very fiddly but does fit.
If i build another, i thought about not using the engine bearers and just building the nose parts around the engine then but joining the whole thing to the fuselage.

But I'm sure you'll work it out in your own way.

I spent some time yesterday working on the wing root gun covers and got them to fit pretty well and hopefully they will also fit into the fuselage ok. only problem now is since I glued them into the top wing parts, I now have to mount the bottom wing to the fuselage before I glue on the top wing parts.
I watched a video of a guy who eliminated the engine by mounting the fan on a long piece of sprue but looking at the instructions, I see that the exhaust pipes mounted on the engine are visible at the back edge of the cowl. Do you think it's posable to mount the exhaust without the engine?
It might just be easier to put the engine together, so I have a mounting point for the prop and the exhaust pipes.

And by the way, its getting pretty lonely here being the only one in this group build. Come on guys!

I thought the sprues looked familiar as I just took a quick look at my Eduard A-8 with which I'd like to join in this GB. The early Eduard 190 kits were a bit notorious for fit issues as they were more designed to be displayed with open panels revealing the very good internal details. The D-9's were similar.

I hope to join in with a build later in the month as I really need to get on with my Mossie and I'll be out of town next week.

yes you get a little jig to mount the exhaust pipes to the engine.

i think your correct about building the engine, maybe do that then attach it with a shorter piece of sprue ?

So those V shaped engine mounts are the problem? They look pretty weak. If so, mounting the engine on a short piece of sprue would work. I have some real thick stuff I saved from an old Airfix kit. Just need to get the length cut right so the prop ends up where it should be.

Yes the V shape mounts are very weak and easily twisted out of shape.

My plan if i ever built another was to build the engine as instructed, the assemble all the cowl pieces around it then try to fit that to the fuselage without using the V shaped mounts at all, if that makes sense ?

Did same thing with the old ICM Bf 109 F kit, so i didn't have to build and fit the engine.
