Thanks, still pretty sore and can't spend too much time setting at the bench but managed to get a bit of work done.
I installed the upper instrument panel and coaming which was quite a pain in the @ss. Also put together the armor headrest assembly and glued it into the canopy. See above pain in @aa statement. I'm beginning to think Eduard engineered this kit to be difficult to assemble on purpose.
Lastly, I installed the ailerons and horizontal tail surfaces. These went on quite nicely. Surprise, surprise.

Totally agree with you Glenn. From what I can figure out, Eduard retooled and released their 190A line in 2017 so check with Scalemates for kit numbers if you are going to buy another. I made gosh darned sure my A-4 was a later one and when I opened the box, sure enough, no fiddly hatches or engines. I have three early 190s that I need to deal with unfortunately

In my opinion, Eduard's appearance in the modelling world came with a fresh view toward engineering, detail, and accuracy. Their early kits offered lots of parts for which even the small ones were made to the correct scale size. The results were mixed and the skill needed was often above what the average modeler could muster. Much of the engineering relied on high expectations and was sometimes impractical. In the case of the 190, kudos to them for listening to their customers and coming up with a more reasonable, new tooled version. Their scale mistake on the early 109G kit was also acknowledged and fixed.

I like the Eduard kits for their detail, accuracy, and build challenge though I still have some niggles with their new decals.

Today I sprayed some Testors square bottle flat black behind the exhaust stubs and sprayed the underside, tail and up the sides of the fuselage with RLM 76. I'm using Vallejo Model Air for this and I like it much better than the Vallejo Model Color I used for the Panther. It went on very smoothly and the airbrush gave me no trouble at all. I don't understand why the Vallejo paint sets for aircraft are Model Air and the sets for armor are Model Color, but I'm stuck with them for now as I bought both the German and American Armor paint sets.
