I'm sure this has been done before but I can't be arsed to to search forever / revive a dead thread:

any examples of funny stuff from your military careers / reading?

a few to start you off

WW1:

The Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) was known as 'Rob All My Comrades' (woundeds' watches tended to go missing)

Rum was issued in stone jars marked 'SRD' ( for Special / Service (?) Rations Department) but known as 'Seldom Reaches Destination' (many being 'broken' on the way to the front-line)

Cold War

'Tea NATO' was white with 2 sugars

'Tea Julie Andrews' was white with no sugar (ie none / nun)

'Tea/Coffee Whoppi Goldberg' was black no sugar (see above)*

* last one may be accopryphal / made up - certainly I never heard it but have read it on the www

Must be more - I could do with cheering up
