Nice work so far Vaughan.
Prem, remembering that the Revell kit was first released in the late 1960s, the differences between it, and the current Hasegawa kit, can be compared to the differences between a Trabant and Rolls Royce!

Looking forward to the progress. I have a few detail shots taken at Duxford if you need them.
Thanks for the offer of the photos Terry I was at Duxford back in February and took over 100 photos of their P47D knowing I had this kit in my stash.

No problem Vaughan. If you need the Squadron Signal 'Walk around' book, for cockpit detail etc, let me know and I'll put it on a CD for you.
Isn't Duxford a photographic paradise?!

Thanks for the offer of the 'Squadron Signal 'Walk around' book' Terry, that would be very useful. If that's ok I will PM you my address. Duxford is a great place I've been there several times in the last two years. I went to Hendon for the first time in September and was pleasantly surprised that it was free entry, the only cost being parking that came in at under £4.

Yep.PM me your address, and I'll try to get it sent this week.
Been to Duxford many times, by road and air, and always something new to see going on - plus the historic atmosphere, of course. Haven't been to Hendon since the late 1980s, when you could see what was in the BoB hall, instead of needing a torch!

I just got the Hasegawa 1/32 F6F Hellcat. I can see why the 47 would be a nice build. Didn't realize how big the Hellcat was. Can't wait to get at it.

Small update today basically a dry fit with the engine cowlings. Hasegawa have slightly over complicated things with the amount of parts which have to all fit perfectly together, so this will be a bit of a challenge. They do give a choice of air cooling louvres open or shut, not sure which one I'll go for yet. I popped the engine and cowling on the end of the fuselage to see how she's going to look 'BIG' is the answer.

Sure will be a big b*gg*r! Got to give it to the guys who design the kits, and the CAD programme for the moulds - complex stuff, and very close tolerances.

A step in the right direction here. I have on good authority that the inside of the engine cowlings were in fact aluminium and not zinc chromate green as the instructions would have you do them. So aluminium they are. There are quite a few ejector pin marks but none will be visible. Next step will be to wrap the cowlings around the engine and secured it to the rear bulkhead.
