Hello,
I don't know if it's the right section but sad news:
Henry Sakaida, author of several volumes on Japanese Army and Navy Air Forces subjects, has passed away.
I've several of the books he wrote and I've been lucky to discuss with him several times about WW2 Japanese Army & Navy Air Force Aces. He was very nice, serviciable and always ready to share his knowledge and information...
Very sorry to hear that. I wrote an article about an encounter between 12 Japanese fighters and two VPB-109 PB4Y-2 Privateers and just after I completed it Henry Sakiada found that George II fighters were involved rather than the Jacks that had been reported previously. I rewrote the article. He was not just an author but a true historian.
Henry had an extremely aggressive tumor that caused multi strokes. I think he died about two weeks after his last post on Jaircraft. He was 66, I believe. Never had a finer more generous colleague—a ton of fun too.
