I started working as part of the CAF (Commemorative Air Force (formerly know as the Confederate Air Force)) maintenance team. What a deal for $250 a year I can go work on someone else airplanes. I'm working on a restoration of a PT-19 but we have a BT-13, AT-6, N3N, C-60 and a Navion as far a I recall. There are other squadrons in the Houston area with B-17G and P-63 as well as other historic birds.

Where is your squadron located? I am on the southeast side by Ellington Field. I haven't investigated lately, but my understanding was that former NASA flight director Gene Kranz was active in the CAF after his retirement.

So there are three of us in the Houston area. Time for a meet and greet? I am a former member of Lone Star Flight member from its Galveston days. I have been attending airshows in the area since the 70s.
Used to go to LSFM in Galveston for their sur shows twice a year, I started to work with Collins foundation in 08 but got laid off a couple days after. Drive from Katy to Ellington was prohibitive on a no income basis. I'm retired USAF and I live in the Katy area. I'm in.

I'd be up for that. I've never been a Lone Star member, but I did fly out of Ellington back when I got my license.

I grew up not far from Ellington. Did Civil Air Patrol my senior year in high school there for something to do.
