Hello.

I'm pretty much a lurker, but I forgot to make a post here that I'm sure at least one or two of you will find interesting.

I interview combat pilots and draw their airplanes.

Anyway, a few months ago, a woman contacted me and asked if I'd like to see the drawings her dad did in WW2.

He was a Norden technician in England and also a notorious doodler - his favorite medium were the envelopes used to write home to his young bride.

Anyway, these envelopes are about as cool as cool can be...and for the past 6 weeks, I've put a new one up on my site about every week or so.

I'm JUST getting ready to post a new one but thought I'd expand the readership a bit by posting in some forums that I haven't been at.

I do one at a time - and the link is the little envelope at the bottom of the page.

I hope you find these as fascinating as I do!

Best regards.

PS - the artist's name is James Hester.

PSS - Most of his art features aircraft; the one that's up right NOW, features Hitler.

Hello, RabidAlien (love the name)

It was a tough decision - to put them all up or one at a time...and the decision was in the envelope itself. He sent them one at a time, they'll be displayed just like that.

Though there's a chance they'll be acquired by a museum and displayed in groups, I think the surprise and fun of seeing "what's next?!" is just too hard to overlook.

I'll put a new one up tomorrow (I hope).

Thank you for commenting. Your posts mean a lot to the family, too.

Another WW2 letter is up.

Click on the envelope on the bottom of the page.

I've been reading about the Okinawa campaign - I think it's tinged my thinking a bit.

But it's a hell of a sketch.

Wily, I do not have a problem with you posting the letter art, but you do not need to start a new thread for each and every letter that you put up. You can just as easily do so in the original thread.

I will merge these two threads now into one...

Willy I am asking you again to stop starting a new post each time you "post up a new letter".

There is no problem with you posting this stuff, but you only need one thread to do all of this. You do not need to start a new thread each time!

I will again merge the threads into one. This will be the last time however...

Hello!

A quick blizzard shut down travel so I took the moment to put up another of Sgt. James Hester's "WW2 Letters" on my website.
