I really do like that - it's made me want to dig out the old hobbycraft 1/48th kit.
I've just had a similar problem with the windscreen on the 1/48th scale Tempest (the kit part, cut away from the canopy), which is basically the same shape, and hard to align, so might replace it with a home moulded or vac form item.
