P-40's on the deck?

Not particularly rare - these are a series of photos taken during the launch of P-40s during 'Operation Torch'.
The aircraft were launched off the coast, to eventually land on forward airstrips behind the beach head. As far as I'm aware, there wasn't a 'navalised' version of the P-40, the ones shown being USAAC aircraft.
 
Airframes is correct. This was the embarkation of the USAMEF in July 1942. P40Fs, probably from the 66th Pursuit Squadron were deployed to Tunisia from a carrier group offshore.
 
The shots of solid tan P-40s are the 57th FG, which launched 72 a/c from USS Ranger (CV 4) on July 19, 1942 enroute to the Middle-east.
