Ok folks, I don't think this has been covered here before...

What are your thoughts on painting the cylinder banks of radial engines? The instructions for my 217 suggest using an 'Engine Grey' shade. Personally, I had imagined something more along the lines of gunmetal drybrushed/washed with black and/or dark grey to simulate dirt, oil and general muck.

What do you guys do in this situation?

Thanks in advance

Rich

Thanks Wurger. I haven't found a good colour pic of the BMW801D 'in service' yet, but I have found an interesting page on the Italian Do217s. Needless to say, it has bee bookmarked for a future return to this kit...

Thanks Spit, that is some really good stuff. I was hoping to find a colour pic of the engine on an aircraft in combat service, but I will be able to work from those easily 8)

Expect an Italian Job sometime in the next decade Wurger
