Something I took yesterday:

Some photos of the French H-34A "Pirates," traditional H-34s modified in a gunship configuration from the Algerian War, circa 1959. These aircraft were typically equipped with a mixture of 20mm MG151 cannon and .50 Caliber M2 machine guns. The more elaborate armaments had one of the former and upwards of three(!) .50 Cals supplementing the cannon.

All of these images were taken from this phenomenal blog. Highly suggest giving it a look over for those curious.

I know, that's weird. But I'm sure there is a good reason.

I can't say exactly why the windows were painted, but it was built with windows in place as it was previously operated by BOAC, but following retirement from BOAC it was operated as a freighter, so the windows were blanked in. It was retired to the Skyfame Museum at Staverton and after that folded it was bought for the RAF Museum in 1972. It was painted up in the markings of an RAF VIP York, so I guess painting the windows was cheaper than replacing the metal inserts with actual windows? I remember visiting Cosford back in the 90s and it served as the shop, so you climbed into the York to buy your books and plastic model kits!
