For what became the A-7A the two choices were a design based on the F-8 and a beefed up FJ.
And an enlarged A-4 (A4D-6) - all 3 of these used the TF30 engine.

The Modified Fury had a ground-attack radar in the lower intake lip - not very attractive:

After considering a TF-30 engined variant of the F11F Tiger, Grumman entered a single-seat simplified A-6 in the competition that still used 2 J52s - despite the US Navy specifying that use of the TF30 was required.

Apparently the horizontal stabilizers were to fold as well to save more deck space:

Viking1066 Viking1066 Jessie what are you using for your photo modes. I use Photoscape X. Free and dose a pretty good job at editing and resizing , just a two cent input.

I don't have that on my Mac. It gives me many problems. I think it is time for a replacement.
