This kit has a long build history. I purchased this kit in the 1970s. I started building this kit. I cut the flaps off with the idea of building this kit with the flaps down. I quit and put the kit away for about 20 years.
In the late 90s I started the kit again. I had now decided to build the kit with the flaps up. So in the end, it is built out-of-the-box. The kit does not have a great amount of detail. The outside is nice. I brush painted the kit with the correct RLM Testors Model Master Colors.
I did enjoy the build. It won Best Out of Box in the Kalamazoo Model Competition in 2000.

This is another model purchased in the 70s that wasn't finished for 30 years. I started to build this kit shortly after buying it.
I painted this with Testors Flat Gray and Tan. I built this out-of-the-box.
This a very nice kit. The fit is excellent. The only complaint is this kit has some deck plugs where anti-aircraft guns were installed later. These wells are used in the IJN Ise as a Battleship-Carrier Hybrid.
I have always liked this style of a battleship with more than three or four main gun turrets. I entered it in 2006, but it didn't win.

This kit only took four years between being given the kit and finishing it!
This kit shows the USS Indianapolis as she was late in WWII. I painted the model with Polyscale Haze Gray, Navy Blue and Deck Blue is the Measure 21 scheme the USS Indianapolis was painted in late in the war.
This model did win Out-Of-Box in the 2006 Kalamazoo Model Contest. It beat out my IJN Hyuga!
Her last voyage is a story of triumph and tragedy. She left the West Coast with a special cargo of the two Atom Bombs that the 509th dropped on Japan. Shortly after leaving Guam she was sailing to the Philippines unescorted. She was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. No one heard the SOS. The Navy in the Philippines never reported her missing. It wasn't until four days later that a chance sighting by a plane that the remaining survivors were found and rescued. The Captain of the USS Indianapolis was tried by Court Martial and convicted for not zig-zagging. The Captain of the Japanese Submarine testified at the Court Martial saying that zig-zagging would have made no difference.

Nice stuff Bill. Is that an actual cammo on the '262, or one worn when displayed in a museum? Seems a bit odd, but nice!

Airframes, the Me-262 camo pattern was the one suggested in the Revell kit. Beyond that, I make no claim to being authentic.
I did the kit before I had internet. And before I joined the Kalamazoo Plastic Model Society. So all I had was my own library and the kit instructions. I am sure you remember those days of modeling!

I certainly do remember those days Bill! It used to take days, possibly months of research, finding whatever often limited info was available, in order to proceed with a model. I've only had the internet now for less than 6 months, and God alone knows how I managed without it! And, of course, this forum, and the great members, are indispensable. Best thing I've done for years, joining this site!

Yeah, I gave up over the holidays waiting for some nice days for outdoor shots in natural light. Just too much rain and snow. So I made her a ceiling queen in my youngest son's room.
