Bill, there's a Botany Bay Wood not far away - will that do?
pbehn, yes we'll possibly go to the former Italian PoW camp at Eden Camp, depending on time, weather etc. Been many years since I last visited, briefly, whilst on business in the area.
And of course, when at Elvington, we have to continue where we left off, with the Air Gunner Championships - so plenty of £1 coins are in order!
And don't forget the extreme wet weather gear, sun cream, Arctic clothing and Bermuda shorts, as it's either p*ss*ng down or cracking the Tarmac !!

Thank you very much for the offer...I shall certainly take you up on that. On the time frame of things...I've planned meeting up in the UK this year, the United States next year and I now have a big one to do in 2016. I hope we're still in contact then, it would be lovely to come down under and meet some of you guys. I know there is most definitely one Aussie I have just got to meet. I hope all will be revealed at a later stage...I've started it off on Britmodeller but as this is specifically WW2Aircraft, I want to keep it as pure as possible out of respect to this site. And of course, all of its nuts too...

A quick up-date.
The Elvington visit is a goer.
The proposed date is Wednesday, 12th March, and I hope to be able to confirm this tomorrow (Monday), once my mate Mick has checked his work rota, and booked the time off.
Having looked at suitable accommodation, and discovering that the old coaching inn I had in mind is either closed for refurb, or fully booked, we'll probably be staying over at the Travel Lodge on Hull Road, York (which has a pub/restaurant on site), subject to room availability, on the Wednesday night.
Given that this is possible, then Eden Camp museum, near Malton, might be a possibility on the Thursday, although York itself, with the Viking centre, the Minster and National Railway Museum, as well as the lovely, historic streets, might be an alternative, and I know that Max and Barbara want to explore there, before returning to Hampshire.
So far, those going include yours truly, my mate Mick, Karl (rochie) and Max and Barbara. If anyone else is interested, please let me know, preferably by PM, and advise if accommodation is required, when I can then check what's available at the Travel Lodge. Of course, individuals are free to make their own arrangements, and, once I know the final details, I'll inform all concerned of RV, timings etc.

Thanks Terry...but I can't make a midweek RV...I was 'ass'uming a weekend jaunt. No worries though, you have a damned good time all and I know I'll catch up with you somewhere in the future.

No problem Nobby. The Duxford May airshow is, of course, over a weekend and, so far, Karl and I are 'definites', along with my mate Mick, and I'd guess Garry (Geedee) and Tony (Rocketeer) will be there too, ensconced on 'the tank bank', so maybe you can make that one?

Still waiting for Mick to confirm his work rota re precise date for Elvington, but should hear by tonight.

OK Graham. If all goes to plan, we'll be staying on the camp site at Fowlmere, just 'up the road' from DX, opposite the former satellite airfield for DX. Going to the camp site on Saturday, the air show on Sunday, and depart Monday.

The Elvington visit has been moved back on day, to Thursday, 13th March, due to Mick's work schedule, and so far, there are five definite attendees, and one probable.
Anyone else interested, let me know, and I'll pass on the details.

Yes Andy, the 'D Day' show, May 24th and 25th.
If you're thinking of coming, and want to join us on the camp site, let me know. I reckon I can organise a spare tent, maggot etc, and possibly arrange to pick-up/drop off at airport, depending which one it is.
Possibly going to 'Legends' in July also, and hoping to do the September show on the way back from the Czech Republic.

Thank you Terry...looking at the logistics this week. I'll confirm within the next 2 weeks, but I'm sure I'll be at Duxford as I have to track a couple of specific a/c down for my research. I look forward to it, and as this will be the 70th Anniversary year I'd be 'lacking' if I didn't.

Can't do the May show at DX as I'm back from hols on the weds before and am provisionaly booked to take my '51 back to Leiston on the BH itself. As for Legends, Tony and I most definately going to that one and will be up at sparrow f*rt to drive up on the Friday arrivals day ready for a weekend of Warbird Porn. Be great to meet up with some of you guys again. Can't do Sept at DX as hoping to be filling the Flt Engr slot on 'Witchcraft' again...and this time I'll deffo get the internet sorted out so's I can do updates as I go along....

Good stuff Gary. There's a good chance I should be able to make it to Legends too, so I'll keep in touch and let you know.
Oh, and I've discovered that recent legislation regarding B-24 Flight Engineers has been up-dated. Section 4a, para 2 (page 3,216), states that "An oily rag carrier must accompany the F.E. on all operations. This equipment must be English, 62 years old, handsome with a good sense of humour, and willing to purchase the occassional beer in exchange for his services".
