I just watched a "History Chap" YT video on the subject of this painting. I've heard of the expression "The Thin Red Line" before but knew nothing about it. I had just assumed it came from some battle in Africa (I was thinking the battle of Roarkes Drift. The presenter stated that everyone has heard of the charge of the light brigade but the infantry didn't get the press it deserved. They held the line. I never knew there was a heavy brigade there either.
