Reminds me of when they had the lottery. Remember that? It was on tv.
My brother joined the USAF the year after he graduated (got married the same year).
We all watched the guy spin the big cage and my mom was just going nuts. She had my father call my brother, who was at Lackland at the time, going through basic training.
My brother had to explain to my mom that he can't be drafted because he had already joined up, so she didn't need to worry about his number being called.

I enlisted in the USAF after my senior year of high school. I got my draft number while I was in Basic Training December 1971. Did I care? NOPE!
After this mess, Fido found himself at the Animal Shelter.
