There was a place on the St. Croix River, right up against the bluff. I should be dead three times over. Rock climbing with no safety equipment. One winter somebody brought a runner sled and we piled four or five kids on and rode it down the road into camp. Runners collapsed half way down. Then there was the incident when someone threw poison ivy leaves into the campfire. Several kids ended up in the hospital.

One winter somebody brought a runner sled and we piled four or five kids on and rode it down the road into camp. Runners collapsed half way down. Then there was the incident when someone threw poison ivy leaves into the campfire. Several kids ended up in the hospital.

You have brought to mind an episode one winter in my preteens. Our house was near the hilltop in a subdivision, one way down a very long curving slide, with high speed on a sled. The other way was a series of shorter hills, safer. One day, no school, I tried the fast side and went under the dump truck spreading cinders at an incredible (I think) speed. Fortunately the cinders he spread behind him slowed my sled to safety. Oher neighbor kids had made it on other winters, but I was never on a runner sled again. A bobsled once, while in the USAF, but that was also a one time event because of a tree.

All that says a lot for taking your test in a Morris Mini Minor. I didn't have to do a three point turn or even park.
The testing officer (policeman back then) said there was no point.

-Hah! I took my test in a Renault Dauphine. The only thing I had to do WAS a three point turn. I looked at the guy, shrugged, did the turn and had my license in less than 15 minutes.
