One night a group of men got into Santa Maria Airport on a Metro III commuter airliner and walked to the baggage claim. They don't have jetways there and it's just a short walk across the ramp, through the terminal and then down the sidewalk to baggage claim. It was a five minute walk but we waited for what seemed like an inordinate amount of time, given that the baggage cart had an even shorter distance to travel than we did and, of course, was pulled by a tractor. Then finally the baggage handler drove up and began unloading the cart. We were all embarrassed; it was a girl, shorter than anyone else there, and with one arm in a sling. We climbed over the delivery tray and helped her unload.
