That becomes obvious if you look at some period photos. Paint/dope used on fabric had aluminum powder mixed in to provide a shield from sunlight, so it was easy to make flat aluminum paint.

Well - I can't keep up with Jesse or Don, but I did have a recent purchase finally arrive in the mail this morning:
I really only needed the PE, Resin, Foil and paints etc., but to make the purchase big enough to have free postage I added the F.2B and the F4F-3 (the logic works for my wife, so I thought I could do the same). The Brisfit has been on the wish list for quite a while, and the Wildcat has a yellow wings scheme (winner!) to add to my collection.
Now - if only I can find the time to use this stuff...........

I am not that much into WW1 airplanes and don;t have any kits of them, but how many of y'all have a set of these books? They are like the William Green WW2 Warplanes books but are by J.M. Bruce and cover WW1. I do not know how many volumes were ever released.

I was thinking of getting those for my PBY-5 and Catalina Mk.Ib Don, as I have lots of PE details for the MG bodies now.
