Nice Dirk! Is that a new tooling, or still the original moulding? (you'll need to widen the fuselage and replace the canopy if so -I have spares if you need one)

Got this from my dad last week! He bought it after seeing the original in the Utah beach museum - lucky bugger! (He took LOTS of detail pics for me which I will try and post!)

Great purchases. My pick-up today.

Noticed on the side panel that the aircraft I wanted to do, Lou IV has no fin fillet and there is no provision for it on the fuselage halves.

Instead I'm going to model Nookie Bookie IV.

Or perhaps I'll go through my references and find a P-51 that an RCAF pilot flew. I recall reading that there were a few seconded to the USAAF and I believe shot down an enemy fighter.

Something to make you go Hmmmmm....I ordered the Airfix Spitfire Mk.XII today. The girl behind the counter showed me a picture of the model from the distributor she orders from. My price-24$CND and change. Her cost-12$CND and change. Nice mark-up.

Good one George. Far as I remember, 'Nooky Booky' was a P-51K, with 'Aeroproducts' prop, and 'Dallas' hood. It would be easier to remove the fin fillet from the kit, and fill the hole, so that you can do 'Lou IV'. All being well, I should be visiting the 'home' of the 361st FG at the end of this month, for the Museum open day.

Thanks for the info Terry. There is a Dallas Hood as shown below but no mention as to which of the four versions use it. Note that Lou IV has a fin fillet as opposed to the box top. Also note that the camo is not the notorious blue. Methinks some pondering time is due before I start.

Yep, the blue which didn't exist, and subject of years of questioning and argument with the famous 'Bottisham Four' photo !
Basically, the 'Dallas' hood would be fitted to P-51Ds produced at the Dallas plant, and to P-51Ks. The other external difference with the 'K' was the 'cuff' less, Aeroproducts prop, which it is possible to produce by carving the HS prop to shape.
