Ah, Bertie has gone all French - must have been that visit to the French Officer's Mess at the Elvington Museum!
Evan, thanks mate. The current wheel set is only the main wheels, but Paragon used to do a full set, before they packed up.
Wayne, yes, I wouldn't mind adding a 'pink' Jag to the intended green/grey and overall grey versions - wouldn't mind an all-black one either, like that pic I posted in the Cosford air show thread.

The point of them is...? How can anyone learn modelmaking if they don't even have to think that much?

Nice score though Geo, and I hope it's more accurate than their 1:72 job - that is a nightmare.

Agreed Evan and the large wing decals may be a freak show to position without tearing. I am tempted to try the canopy and windscreen decals. I believe I have read that there are some accuracy issues and am checking the reviews right now, but at the end of the day, unless I start to build an aircraft and it ends up looking like a tank, I can live some minor issues. Jan, if you want Bärs "13" markings, they are yours.

Geo

Hope the inaccuracies are just minor Geo. The only fairly accurate bits in the 1:72 kit are the cockpit floor, seat and prop. Rest isn't even worth correcting, so just kept those parts, replaced them with less detailed spares of same and passed it straight on to the neighbour's kid.

Good one Geo. This is an ex Hobby Craft kit - I've got a couple myself. Overall, they're quite good, better than early HC kits. The radiator baths are a bit shallow, but nothing serious.
Strange decals! That decal for the canopy is incorrect - there shouldn't be a central frame on the side panels. This was a sliding panel, like on Land Rovers, so showed a clear overlapped joint.

Thanks for the info Terry. I've always wondered about those Hobbycraft(shudder) 109s. Nice one B-17. I've been watching the Walrus' on eBay. Rigging scares the bejaysus out of me,

Geo, the HC '109 kits are much more like Academy, and were made by them, according to the country of origin shown on the HC boxes. I've done a dry fit on one of mine, and everything seems ok, you'll be pleased to know!
Harrison, which Walrus kit have you got?
If it's Classic Airframes, then it's supposed to be excellent. If it's SMER, then it's originally a Hawk/Lindberg and others kit - basic, but not bad. I keep meaning to get one to do a 'rescue' diorama, with a rubber dinghy etc.

They've always been a nice fitting kit when put together from the box, I've been using 2 HC kits with aftermarket parts and they are nightmares :D so whatever you do, don't put too much resin in the cockpit :D

It ended with me delaying the build, the side panel cockpit sections go in easy, but when you start to close it up, you notice the panels make the kit too small so sanding awaits :D

Harrison, from what I've seen, the SMER kit, although basic, is reasonably good, and a good basis for practicing scratch-building. Let me know if you want any interior pics etc, when you're ready to start.
