I thought it must have been around then. I visited with my brother, when the civilian area was just a couple of huts, with a flying club, and the Lightnings on the other side of the runway, from memory. Work to build/convert the civil terminal hadn't started at that time I don't think.
I have the F1/F1A kit, to do as a 56 Sqn bird, and would like a green/grey/nmf F6 and either a T4 or T5 too - God knows when I'd get to build them though, with 90+ kits to get through yet !!
 
This is my latest which I got for Christmas. I've never built a Valom model before, but I have to say this looks like a lovely kit.

Looks like a nice kit Andy, and I agree with Geo - some of the 1/72nd scale kits around would be very welcome in 1/48th. I'm hoping that Airfix will 'scale up' some of their more recent 72nd kits, with the Blenheim, Tucano, Whitley and Swift being just some I'd like to get.
 
Had I been smart Terry(big emphasis on had) I should have done multi-engine aircraft in 1/72, but when my 3 brain cells that hadn't been touched by alcohol finally met, they chose 1/48 as a continuous size comparison thang.

That is what I have been doing Geo. Single engine aircraft in 1/48, multi engine in 1/72. I would prefer them all in 48 scale, but I simply don't have the display space for such large models.
 
Yep, there are some multi-engine types I'd like to do, but in 1/48th scale they take up a lot of room !
Apart from manageable sized 'twins', some of which are still a tad on the large side, I've had to limit myself to a Lanc, B-17 and B-24 - so far !
I really fancy doing a RAF C-130K Hercules, but, but in 1/48th scale, that baby almost needs a room to itself !!
 
Yes Evan, I know. Their older C-130 kit included RAF markings for the period I'd want to model, and Cory (Catch 22) was going to send me one he'd 'inherited' among a large collection of kits, but, due to the immense size of the box, it would have cost a small fortune to send from Canada, more than the retail price of the kit!!
I very nearly went for one on e-bay a couple of months back, but refrained. The only way I could display it (at the moment anyway) would be to hang it from the ceiling, with a 'stick' of Paras exiting, but that would be a certain magnet for dust, and all the interior detail would be hidden too.
