I dont know if you know but these boxes were from when the line was electrified, it was converted back before the war because they considered electrified railways to be vulnerable, if you knock out the electricty you knock out the whole rail system.

Castle Eden Railway - Wikipedia I can just remember seeing a steam train on it at the stockton end 1966 or thereabouts, when they first closed the railway there were still parts in those boxes that were obvious electrical connectionsA-ha, I've been looking for that info, thanks.
