My family use to go to "Pub Trivia" on a weekly basis. COVID has of course put a temporary end to this - but would a forum based style be feasible?

I have one that will surprise many though it is in several parts.
In Australia, when were shops ordered to close at 5pm and why? What was the previous regulation on closing times?

March 1942 so that people would have time after work to do their air raid precautions, build air raid shelters etc.
It started as a suggestion that most businesses followed, then became a temporary wartime law that lasted into the seventies

The previous regulations? There were none weekdays and many shops stayed open much later. Saturdays was midday. Sundays closed.
