    Spit was better than Hurri

Depended on time, at first 109E was better than Spit Mk I, when the latter got CSU propeller and 100oct fuel say in July 40, they were more or less equal. F, after the initial weaknesses were corrected, was better than Mk IIs and Vs, especially F-4 was great. IMHO Mk IXs and VIIIs were better than early Gs, difference wasn't great though but Spits in hands of equally capable pilots had always edge on horizontal plane even if vertical was more important. IMHO Mk XIV was slightly better than later Gs (G-6/AS and G-10) and K, but difference was slight if the Germans planes were good quality examples.

I think because all four of these planes went through so many versions and modifications, you will need to specify what exactly your comparing.

For example, you wont get the same comparision of a Spitfire Mk1 and MkXI vs a Hurricane Mk1 and a MkV. Same goes for the German planes.
