Did they relax standards after a certain period for all aircraft?

Thanks guys. I have heard they started with rubber masks and then went to freehand spray at some point, possibly with the switch to the Day Fighter Scheme but not sure.

I've seen pics where heavy paper masks were used. Not sure, but I think the freehand spraying started around late 1942, or maybe mid 1943, presumably to save time and effort.

Debating whether or not to glue in the clear parts before painting. They fit so nice so may break from tradition and do them after.

Dark Earth mixed and sprayed on. I tried a recommended mix of 2:XF-52 + 2:XF-49 + 1:XF-3 and we'll see how it looks once the green is on.

Good stuff. Looks rather light on my screen, but I suspect that's the effect of the lighting when photographed.
