over here they are sausages wrapped in bacon.I have to say that this is a different approach to "pigs in a blanket".
Here in the colonies, "pigs in a blanket" are typically hot dogs or sausages wrapped in a layer of biscuit or croissant dough and baked.

Lucky you, back in a country where food is 'food'!! Is that spaetzle I see??? Schnitzel?? Some loin? and what is the pastry, and filling, I'm seeing" My mother was from Ubstadt/Weir, about 100 Km from where you are, and I don't recall these??
Yes please, do tell.Lucky you, back in a country where food is 'food'!! Is that spaetzle I see??? Schnitzel?? Some loin? and what is the pastry, and filling, I'm seeing" My mother was from Ubstadt/Weir, about 100 Km from where you are, and I don't recall these??
The German Pizza I got, it's the small pastry that is on either side of the speatzle (?), with the veggie looking filling, that I don't recognize? Oh! and the beer was easy...nice head for a German Pils.Flammkuchen
Its a very thin bread dough baked at high temperature (usually wood fire) with crème fraîche, onions, and bacon. Its originally from the German speaking area of Alsace, France, but very popular here in southwestern Germany bordering France.
One of my favorite meals.
