I have this book called "The Presidential Book of Lists"


The most popular religions are:

Episcopalian had ten presidents. George Washington, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, Zachary Taylor, Franklin Pierce, Chester A. Arthur, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Gerald Ford,and George H.W. Bush. John Tyler was an Episcopalian in general, but in practice more of a deist. Rutherford Hayes was Presbyterian bt birth , Episcopalian by a single adult, and Methodist after marriage.

Presbyterian had seven presidents. Andrew Jackson, James Buchanan, Abraham Lincoln, Grover Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, Woodrow Wilson, and Dwight Eisenhower. James K. Polk and Rutherford Hayes were Prebyterian by birth. Ronald Regan was a Disciple of Christ but identified himself as a Presbyterian.

Methodist had five presidents. Ulysses Grant, William McKinley, James Polk, Rutherford Hayes, and George W. Bush. The last three all became Methodists after marriage.

(tie) Unitarian had four presidents. John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Millard Fillmore, and William Howard Taft.

(tie) Baptist had four also. Warren G. Harding, Harry S Truman, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.


Other religions practiced by presidents were, Anglican, Dutch Reformed, Disciples of Christ, Congregationalists, Quaker and Roman Catholic.
