Sorry to hear about your misadventure, Terry, glad you're no worse for wear.

Last year, during a late winter storm, I was travelling home from a nearby city. Due to the driving rain and poor visability on the highway, I hit a series of potholes that not only damaged my front lower control arms, but collapsed the matrix in my catalytic converter.

I managed to limp my Chevy home after a stressful 73 miles and it cost me over $2,500 (USD) to repair!
 
That I can understand and I believe the catalytic convertor are almost worth their weight in gold. Over here they must be as they are a constant target of thieves.

Here, too, my friend.

It also happens that California has it's own set of emissions standards oitaide of thw 49 other states, so my catalytic converter cost $1,100 which would have cost $700 in any other state.
 
Thanks for the good wishes chaps. Just waiting to hear from the recovery company, regarding progress with my car, and, if it's finished today, I'll head home tomorrow.
Maybe the high cost of those cat converter thingies is due to some suppliers getting confused, and thinking they're Catalina converters .................. I'll get me coat when it cools down here !!

In the Deep everywhere, actually.

I actually had an itemized property list from Sacramento regarding a wrecked CHP cruiser, that was going to be totalled out, in our shop and we had to confirm the items on the list before releasing it.
On the paperwork, was a line item for:
Quantity two (2), cadillac converter.
 
Latest up-date - my car has been repaired, but the workshop discovered that the driver's seat is not locking in place, and need to remove it, check the problem and remedy as needed.
A bit strange, as it was fine before, but hopefully easily sorted. (maybe something caught in one of the runner tracks, perhaps ?).
Just waiting to get confirmation that the car will be back with me today and, if so, I'll return home tomorrow.
