Well, we did it !
We got back from France on Friday evening (without being arrested, held by Customs, or imprisoned !!!), and stayed at the Tin Tent over the weekend, although Karl returned home on Sunday.
I got home last night, totally fu - er, exhausted, stiff, aching and quite tired, but extremely happy and pleased with our numerous adventures.
Once I've recovered and regained some semblance of normal human functions, I'll sort and edit the vast amount of photos, and commence the "travelogue" of our tour of the Normandy beaches, bridgehead and battle sites.
I only took my Fuji "bridge" camera, and relied on my 'phone camera as a back-up and for general shots, as the Nikon DSLRs would have been a tad cumbersome. I still have to figure out how to download the 'phone pics to my hard drive (new 'phone and teknicology for me !), as the PC is recognising the device, but the pics aren't transferring - obviously user error, but I'll get there.
Before I proceed though, I want to thank Karl for doing the driving, without breaking my new car, and for his, and Mick's help throughout the tour, especially as my mobility scooter was having a brain fart most of the time and refusing to play. Without this help I would have been totally and utterly bolloxed !!!

Good to see you're home safely. I just email pictures from my phone to my laptop but if you have a lot you'd probably have to do it in batches. This is also the only time I get email that isn't spam so I get very excited seeing an email from myself

I share the photos via Bluetooth when there are just a few. I direct cable from phone to laptop for lots.

Glad you had a great time old chap it as an awesome thing to do and am looking forward to the debrief. As for downloading from phone, I'm from the old school and just use cable from device to computer.

I tried the cable to PC and, although the 'phone was recognised and the usual procedures followed, the pics wouldn't transfer.
I also tried sending them to my e-mail address (a long process !), but again, no luck.
Oh well, maybe the elecktricy has leaked out, or maybe the PC doesn't like the colour pics of a place I want to build, but I'll sort it eventually.

If you have an android device, log in on google on your pc and go to google photos in your webbrowser. You should be able to download them there.

Marcel, that sounds like a solution - if I knew how to do it !!
I've only had the Samsung 'phone for about 5 weeks, and still finding out how to use the damned thing (no instructions with the new 'phone).
I've only ever used basic Nokias before now, so it's all new to me ...... and I'm not a fifteen year old !!
Also, my bent and rigid fingers keep touching parts of the screen, and launching a series of mysterious systems, although I don't think I've launched an ICBM towards Gaza yet !
Anyway, I've just started sorting the pics off my "real" camera, and hope to start posting soon.

At last !
I've finally managed to get the pics off my 'phone, although not in a convenient order, but it'll have to do.
So off we go !
Going for Ham and Jam in Normandy.
I left home on Friday, 29th August, and travelled down to the Tin Tent with our friend Mick.
Nearing the end of our four hour drive, we ran into the edge of a heavy storm and, just a few miles from the camping park, stopped to photograph a spectacular double rainbow, with fantastic light giving the recently harvested wheat fields a warm, yellow glow. I only just managed to catch part of the rainbows, as shown below.
Karl arrived at the Tin Tent the following morning and, after a short rest, we all set off in "Hal" for an overnight stop nearer the ferry port at Newhaven.
Up fairly early on Sunday morning, we had a 50 minute drive to Newhaven, itself a D-Day embarkment port, where we topped-up with fuel before checking in at 09.00hrs, in plenty of time to board our LSV (Landing Ship Hyundai) after clearing Passport and Immigration procedures, ready to sail at 11.00 hrs.
The four hour crossing was smooth and comfortable, with good Duty Free selections, and everything about DFDS (the ferry company) was excellent all the way.
We arrived at Dieppe (yes, that Dieppe) bang on time at 16.00 hrs (French time), disembarked, and set off again, with Karl driving, for the two hour journey to our hotel in Benouville, where Pegasus bridge is located, right in the heart of the first allied actions on D-Day.
The pics below show the rainbows, our ferry at Newhaven, the white cliffs of the Sussex coast receding behind us, and our first glimpse of the cliffs at Dieppe.
The satellite pics show Dieppe in relation to the area around and beyond Caen where we'd be operating, and the village of Benouville/Le Port and the proximity of Ouistreham, and Merville Battery, or first objective for day 1 on Monday.
Back tomorrow with the next instalment - and an explanation of the "Ham and Jam" title.
