I'll concede the point and confess I have swum in Burley Griffin lake but even on a hot ney, blistering hot day the water is a tad on the cold side and the Yacht Club with its cooling beer is a strong temptation and was a regular Friday afternoon haunt when I worked in the Liar Central, maintenance, not the other. You forget that Lake Burley Griffin is near both Liar Central (parliament house) and the centre of beautiful downtown Canberra
I could use a VB right about now!Bargara Beach one hour 30 away at 5am but slower after that. Good steakhouse and bar within 100 metres of the beach. Good place to watch the southern tourists in their bikinis enjoying themselves on a cold winters day here when is is only about 25C and Canberra is below zero.
Drizzling and heavy showers here too which is great as we depend on tank water.
