Was in Hawaii for 9 days, got back yesterday. Redundant Statement of the Year: Weather in western Canada is not as nice as Kauai. Just sayin'............

I arrived in Hilo Hi 30 hours and 20 minutes after walking into Bundaberg airport and found perfect winter weather. Three days and 6 hours later I got a sudden massive dose of jet lag which naturally was not jet lag but Covid. Six days of isolation later I just tested again and the test was a massive positive within 30 seconds.

Covid in 24C temperatures is infinitely more pleasant than covid in 40C/100F weather so I am going to say the weather here is perfect.

Hopefully I wll get to see my grandchildren before they go back to Seattle and school.

Huh ....... I tested positive this morning....... oh joy. Am wondering if HI is a covid hot-spot? Or maybe it's just being stuck in a sealed aluminium tube with a few hundred others for lotsa hours.....

According to my bro in law who is a non respiratory medical specialist 1 in every 60 US citizens currently has covid which is the highest rate of infection in 2 years. He says if you get a moderate or worse headache get immediate medical treatment.

Unusual fatigue and mild to moderate persistent headaches seem to be the predominate symptoms for the current COVID variant. About half the people I associate with have reported one or both symptoms over the last couple of months.

Addition to above:

Apparently, a significant though small percentage are reporting persistent leg muscle aches/pains in association with fatigue and/or headaches.

Glad I am not at home. My son reports we had 44mm in 38 minutes in one shower yesterday and the dam is not half full. He will not visit our home for the next few days as he does not want to be cut off from his place in Bundaberg.

It's finally cold here. No snow as of yet and no complaints. It sure isn't Grand Forks, North Dakota where it snows in May.

Looks like snow for most of my tour which means hot changing and working through breaks. On the plus side, or is that minus side, the temps will be below -3°C daytime which means the road crush stays on the surface so I won't be tied to one ramp. 🤞
