We had an inch of snow last night.

-I was doing some serious cringing when the showed that. Those hoofs (hooves?) are hard and sharp and that is the PRELIMINARY to the head butting! Should a family oriented program show why some critters ain't gonna have a family?

Wifey and I were watching a Nat Geo episode on Big Bend National Park. Just as the Mountain Bighorn sheep were demonstrating their head butting contests the whole house shook: a perfectly timed series of earthquakes. So far the max was a 5.5; we've had about 20 aftershocks. Haven't heard about any significant damage. If there isn't another 5+ that we feel I'll have to check the map at https://earthquake.usgs.gov › earthquakes › map tomorrow.

https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/?extent=38.4264,-120.08331&extent=40.06832,-116.74347 shows the cluster of quakes. More than usual but 5.7 is a little larger than usual. Side comment: they relate most of the quakes with distance from Silver Springs. The airport at SS (KSPZ) has an Aardvark parked in front! Heck of a gate guard for a 6000ft strip.

70 degrees and sunny. It was a shame to be inside all day with my sweet peas and ruffians.

There was a "minor" difference between what the Bureau of Meteorology and our east side thermometer read. We are well inland from the Bundy airport where they measure the temps for the region and somewhat higher above sea level. I do not know what our high was for the day - I went inside at midday because it was too warm for me.

This has to be the most insane weather I have ever experienced in life.

The old saying around here, is if there's still snow on the hills expect more.

I mentioned that the other day at work and several of the younger people called it bullshit. On Wednesday, a cold front roared through with high winds and heavy rain. This morning, the clouds broke and lo and behold, a fresh carpet of snow on the surrounding mountains and foothills.

Not a word was said...
