The engine parts of the kit are plain. At first I thought to buy a resin part but at last I decided to go the "do it yourself" way of modeling to the very end..
These are the kit parts of the engine. Let's see what we can use of it.
To make things easier I cut the engine into main parts and cemented these subassemblies separately.
All integrally cast lines were removed. With the lines went all parts of which I couldn't find an equivalent on the real engine.
The intake got an inner lining of plastic sheet.
Three scoops were added to the engine interior and the engine inlet cover was closed at its back with sheet.
I added all belts and rivets which aren't found on the kit. A ring of plastic sheet builds a flange which will join this parts with the rest of the engine.
When I cleaned up the main engine housing nothing more was left than the basic form. The pic shows the kit engine before and after cleaning up..
