Air France…

3 hour delay because of expired equipment on board. Now we are probably stuck in Chicago.

Like Qantas in Wellington NZ a few years back. While doing his preflight the captain discovered his 737 had done multiple AU-NZ-AU sectors without the life rafts on board so they had to send an aircraft and life rafts from SYD. The aircraft was part way through a life raft stowage modification but rostered on anyway.

Yeah this was water emergency equipment.

That's a drag.
But at least you are not in jail.
Many years ago, a coworker took two weeks vacation, blew his current paycheck plus his two weeks vacation pay at the casino, got a DUI on the way home, and spent the two weeks in jail because he had no money to post bail.
My last job before final retirement was with a company that microfilmed documents for businesses & govt. offices. Although I was in the service dept. if we were quiet and the boss was up against a deadline, I sometimes filled in for a missing operator. One job was for a south Louisiana Sheriff's dept. One folder from the late 1930s told of a man from Wisconsin who had come in by bus. He apparently had not checked in anywhere and had something like $50-60 cash on him, a small fortune then, when questioned by local city police. The man's story was he was on 2 weeks vacation from his factory job. A letter was sent to the company he gave to verify his employment and the amount of his last 2 weeks pay. A long distance phone call at the time then was beyond the sheriff's dept expenses and they could not use the man's money without proof that it was actually his. The mail with proof of his employment and his 2 weeks pay amount came in time for him to catch a buss back. No mention was made why he chose his vacation destination as he didn't know anyone in south Louisiana.

I don't know. Wherever it is it's just enough to keep things moist enough for mold.
We have been smelling it for a while, but dismissed it as untidy bathroom.
It wasn't until paint started bubbling on ceiling downstairs that we realized the problem was bigger than the shower needs cleaning.

Damn, sorry to hear that.

It seems that anymore, looking at social media posts from institutions like Smithsonian, Archaeology (magazine), JPL NASA and even some WWII history sites, has become an eye opener as to how bad the general public's IQ has declined.

Here we are, in the 21st century, with amazing technology and access to more information than human history has ever had and people scream "Fake CGI!!" at hi-resolution photos of Mars or claim that the ISS is in a swimming pool somewhere in Florida (or Texas or California, depending on the dumbass who's making the claim).

When I first started the "History According to Random People" thread, the examples posted were from occasional rantings spotted along the way. But now days, there is literally way too much to copy and share...

Sad isn't it. I have really noticed the downturn in things over the last decade. It doesn't help that terms such as "Alternative facts" has been allowed to enter our lexicon.

If brains were gasoline many would not have enough to start a cigarette lighter
