Been there as well, back pain is probably the worst pain I've ever experienced. One time it was brought on when the Dentist sat me up in the exam chair, felt something pull on both sides of my lower back, next day could barely walk about a year later I threw it out again only much worse. Took several months of physical therapy and exercise to get it right, thatkfully no surgery.
 
Greg: At least you aren't in the situation a friend was when he tried to retire from active duty...From the day he submitted his initial request to actual retirement was just over 3 years. Could have shortened it by 2/3's if he had been willing to accept a 1 year unaccompanied TDY to get some required surgery before he could retire. Because of family situation, he couldn't, so due to scheduling, it took 28 months to get him his surgery locally.
 
Not long after 0400 this morning I was awoken by a very short power outage, which started something beeping. Trying to get back to sleep, they launched a rocket from KSC, which did not help. Then another short power outage a few hours later.

I wonder what is going on. 25 years ago momentary power outages were literally daily events, but the improved enormously since then. When Hurricane Milton hit us dead nuts last year the lights stayed on, but we have had three of those momentary outages in the last week.
 
Today I resolved to get some fence work done but found that the $8.00 Cobalt Drill Bit I had bought would not drill the last hole in the angle iron. I decided to run over to the hangar and get a Unibit that I thought might do the job, stopping at Walmart along the way to pick up a couple of 1/16 in bit that might help. I was not able to find the Unibits at the hangar and eventually found I had previously already put all of them in the car. But I spied a small object on the floor and was delighted to discover it was the missing anvil out of my favorite pop-rivet gun, a key part lost when I dismantled it to unjam it a few days back. What luck!

At home I found that the Walmart bits plus my smallest Unibit cut the hole I needed for the fence but when I took the drill back in the house I found the Unibit had fallen out of it!
Ah, well, found one lost item and then lost another!
 
This transition from Retired Reserve to Retired status is very awkward. My health insurance has lapsed and I can't even access my EOBs. I have to find a military personnel office to formally register as retired and get a new ID. Maybe then I can get re-enrolled in health insurance. I got my first retired pay for the last bit of April, but can't access my pay record yet. Tomorrow I have an ID appointment. Can't wait to discover what surprises they'll have waiting for me.
 
It has been a rough 12 months. I did not agree to this getting old stuff. Not being political here, just being old. I was happy to see Michaels has finally restocked the model shelf last night. The only new item was a snap tight star trek Enterprise D. Then I saw the usual Mitchell and Black widow. Check the price.

I am still fighting the urge to buy the Atlantis bag of P-39 Molded in Yellow with Clear Canopy 1/46 24 kits. Just about $2 a plane. I found 13 different ways to paint them where would I put them? I have been asking Atlantis questions and I am getting responses. Of course it is the racer with 4 props. I could only use 4 or 5 of them. The plane is the same as the as the military version. No they are not interested in making 15 replacement 3 props. Let's see, a GB of P39 racers. I wonder who would be number 13? Make and Take P-39 Molded in Yellow with Clear Canopy 1/46 24 kits

Wait until they have 20% off sale, as I suspect they might do for Memorial day. So far I have bought 96 of those, 48 for us to run a model building day for kids at the airport and another 48 for someone else to do the same thing. I also have one intact in the box version of Cobra II with the 4 blade prop.

You could also use at least a couple of them to to build this:

Well, here is an interesting thought.

A P-63 is bigger than a P-39. But a 1/46 P-39 is very close to the same size as a 1/48 P-63. Total length of a 1/46 P-39 is only 0.025 inches shorter than a 1/48 P-63 and wing span is only 0.060 less than a P-63, So hack one of those P-39's into a P-63!
