The author gave many examples of PROPER English spelling and the one I always liked best was fish, in proper English spelling, is ghot

• GH is the F sound in many words like enough
• O is the I sound in words like women
• T is the SH sound in words like station.

Therefore either I (or O from the example above) for the first letter of Inshitification is perfectly correct.

Meanwhile AI needs a better meaning; I do like the sentiment of "inshitification" but as Thumpalumpacus rightly points out, it really needs to begin with the letter e. We need to come up with something that aptly describes our total disgust and anger at what it means. Sadly 'excrement' also doesn't begin with an i.

Let us keep inshitification until someone comes up with something better and put the spelling down to different rules in different countries (and sometime even differences within the same country) like through and thru are different spellings for the same word or like new and nu are different pronunciations of the same word.
