Not sure where to post this. On the cheered up side, after 3 months of dicking around with the federal government, I am finally getting my Old Age Pension. On the annoyed side, $62 a month, to be reviewed later in the year

In related news the federal government has removed the adjustment to social security for retirement benefits for teachers. My wife for over 25 years in retail before she met me. In Texas, teachers have a state retirement and do not pay social security. Until this week, her social security retirement was only going to be 200 a month. Now she gets the. Full amount and her teacher retirement. Retirement is one year closer.

Yesterday and not today, as I was too busy to post it, but my son got back from Okinawa. So good to see him again, in such good shape, and laser-focused. Now he gets to touch base with friends and family and we in turn are thrilled.

Could put it in the food thread, but here's just as good, I made a homecoming meal of salmon, asparagus, and mushrooms grilled over mesquite. Came out nicely, especially considering I haven't grilled salmon in well over a decade. Everyone's fat, dumb, and happy, and I learnt my dog simply loves salmon fresh off the barbecue.

Further to the last post, my son and I spent this evening trading service stories. Two GIs separated by thirty years, we found that some things never change.

One of my kids dodged the RIF bullet. He's a government civilian but was still in probationary status. Thankfully, he crossed his 1-year mark before the axe fell, so he's safe...at least for the time being.

Finished course week for eight week period and 100% for ELA course and 93.4% for the social studies course. Guy was tough, but good teacher. New class starts Monday and 15 class observations. I can't wait for spring break in April.
