Turned telly on while waiting for the footy - 'A few dollars more' had just started. Didn't realise those three movies had plots. Classic.
This reminds me of the time I woke up a little before 2 or 3 am and couldn't fall back asleep, so I turned on the tv in hopes that it would lull me to sleep.
Just so happened to be on whatever channel was just starting the 1939 version of The 39 Steps.
Love that movie and I was riveted from the word go. I don't think I fell asleep until about 6 am.

Yesterday I happened to catch "The Summer of '42", which I had not seen since the '70s. It is really a good movie but maybe the saddest one that I have ever seen. The cast are virtual unknowns but they are all uniformly excellent. The only "name" I knew was Lou Frizzel, who played a minor role as the town druggist. I don't remember seeing any of them in any other movie, before or after this one. The ending is overwhelmingly sad; the interaction between the lovely Jennifer O'Neil and Gary Grimes is handled with taste and discretion by the director. In other hands it could have been simply a vulgar display of voyeurism. This is a movie to see with a woman, one you care about.

Many years back, my mother in law was addicted to soap operas. When she visited our house, she would park in front of the tele and watch "John's wife's other husband" or some such nonsense. Once when she went to the bathroom, I switched to the Spanish channel which broad cast their soaps in Spanish, of course. After she watched a full 20 minutes, she announced to all, "I can't understand a word they are saying!"

As good as the movie was, the book was 10 times better. The movie sequel, "Class Of 44" basically sucked.

Very cool, D Deleted member 68059 . To be asked on a documentary, several times, for your knowledge on a prestigious organization as Rolls Royce is quite a nod to your expertise. I did watch your YouTube appearance. I enjoy these presentations much more than watching some stupid game show.
Yeah people keep telling me to start a Patreon account and do loads of YouTube but I never have time. I`m working a lot to save up money to keep my son stocked in tractor toys, tractor books, tractor films, tractor museum visits and fish fingers (he refuses all other activities and foods)
