California now reports 515,605 acres (234,656 ha) burned. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection | CAL FIRE
The local air quality index reached 278 last night putting our air into the AQI "very unhealthy" range.
Lee Vining, the eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park, is currently at 159 (unhealthy); last night the AQI was 1550: hazardous.

I talked to one of my colleagues during the night, asked if he'd enjoyed his week off....
He said no....
I found my son dead he continued....
I can't even begin to fathom what he and his wife are going through....
His son was 35 and they don't know what reason is for his passing is yet....

Fell at work. Seems they were washing the floor no signs or anything to indicate otherwise. Had it x-rayed and it turns out I now have arthritis, but I am an old man now, so this wasn't a surprise. Doctor suggested one to two days off. I just took one because I don't want to make someone suffer with my clowns for two straight days. One day of Epsom salt baths, ice, no pressure on it, and I should be ready to return.

I just got word that a dear friend, Ken Haan passed away a couple of weeks ago.
For the model railroaders here, he was the owner of Cooper & Oshtemo Loco Works. These were mostly HO scale cars.
I worked with Ken in most of the 1990s in his business. I wrote the computer program that did the end labels for many of the car kits.
We also worked together on the Kalamazoo Lake Shore and Chicago Railway. This was a 14 mile short line that did Scenic, Dinner, and Freight.
As the family insurance agent, he became friends with my parents too.
Too many good stories to type here. We had our adventures together.
The problem with an old friend is you out live them. It HURTS!

When my late Mom was going through therapy for a bad knee, she asked the therapist when she could resume training for pole vaulting!

I just wanted to reset the water sprinkler in the back yard!!
Squatted down to move the bloody thing then stood up quickly,
turned too fast to get out of the water. Caught my foot in the grass,
fell sideways my hand under me................ under my ribs. Heard a little Snap.
Yessireee bob. Broke a rib, near my shoulder. 5 days now and still cannot
lay in bed on my side. Couch time. Old bones I can only hope it heals quickly.

I feel for you, broken ribs are not good having broken at least 3 of them in a car accident (may have been more but x-rays didn't show the that clearly).

Agree too.
Had myself 17 rib fractures, 9 vertebras, and multiples fractures on both blades in a quad accident. During the body scan, at number 40, they stopped the counting.
