Thanks Terry. This will be the last DML I ever buy. they provide one view of the parts with arrows showing where the part goes but often those arrows go behind something and there is no second view. the engines were the worst. about 30 little tiny parts with no clue as to how they all align with each other.
what do you think of these photo-etched metal pieces? e.g. they included 2 rings about 1mm diameter which were to be placed in the turbine front rotor. one bent in half just trying to remove it and the other vanished after I put it down.
been a frustrating build

alrighty, guys. I'm very sorry that I've not posted my progress of the spirit of St. Louis or the Nieuport 11. but I have finished both aircraft and forgot to take pictures of them before sending them away. but here is my progress on the VC-137C (Air Force One)

by the way, I got a new lamp and I absolutely love it <3

Well, I have been working, well, modeing, ahh, building models, planes tht is. My Ho 229A-1. It's a 1/48 DML kit and a poor one, tiny spindley parts and very poor directions, actually just drawings with arrows

omg where did you get that kit!? I've been wanting that kit SOOO bad for a while!

Trebor- had I known then what I do now I'd have sent it to you free.
Actually I get most of my kits from Ebay at very reasonable prices
Wayne, this is my first and last DML. Even the build sequence is wrong in many cases. They have you glue the engines to the front nose of the aircraft with no alignment tabs. Then you insert into the body where the angle of the engines are wrong for the body mounts

aw damn! I can't believe I missed out! that's like my fave german concept design. just looks sexy. lol *headdesk*

Rob I was thinking of you the other night while watching the History Channel's doc on Air Force One before they were AFO.The early prop jobs were neat and colorful I think they even had a Constellation at one time.Mike that is a common theme with DML models while they can produce good kits with some nice engineering instructions suck. The 1/350 Scharnhorst is littered with that flaw and has actually kept some from buying the kit I think.Well looks good there guys!Oh and Rob did the little Nieport come out okay? That was a Smer kit if I remember?alittle rough thats why I am such a nice guy and passed that one on  I should do that to Wayno lighten my load and increase his :) Cheers

Javlin, well as always learn the hard way. had to screw up the first engine to learn how the second actually went together. Like Trebor it is one of my favorite aircraft and I was really looking forward to the build

heh, well if you look at my previous completed kits in the completed kits section, you'll see I've been working on presidential aircraft. this includes the Boeing B314 Dixie Clipper, VC-118 Independence, and the VC-121 Constellation Columbine III. and now I'm working on Air Force One <3

alway check the instructions, check the parts and DRY FIT everything, that way you can hopefully overcome the BullSh!t factor, and avoid the frustration to some degree. You can then also choose to alter the build sequence for a better outcome.

I scored a new kit today and already found in the instructions the engine already assembled in one step without a build sequence for it!

Wayne there is a fella by the name of Tracy White building the above Scharnhorst and he was breaking out all his literature to do the SS assembly. This guy has been doing maritine for a long time and was struggling  and he will make it for that reason.Cheers

Far too much! But, due to those fraud thingys on my card, I've had little to no inspiration at all to do anything. As it is now, my card is blocked, can't use it on the machines or online, need to go to the branch to get money over the counter....

I guesss that's a good thing...

Yeah, but those cards are so huge, everyone knows they're fake!
Cancel the card old boy, after informing the bank of the fraud, and ask for a new one. The bank will also refund the cash, but it must be notified and the refund requested within 3 months of the transaction(s), to comply with Visa International rules, and you should be sent a Declaration form to complete, confirming you did not make the purchases.
